My Winter Holiday Mantel

I was pretty busy in the fall and only got that mantel half done so I wasn’t able to blog about it. But I did manage to put together my Winter Holiday Mantel and my son helped me pick out the items.

We ended up going to the Michaels Black Friday Sale and managed to pick up some great pieces at amazing prices. I wanted something glittery and golden and they had the perfect selection to choose from.

The candle holders I had from before and were in my dining room. The golden mirrored frames were from Ikea that were plain wood, but I spray painted them gold. My son chose the pine cone and drum piece.

He also chose the bird. He was so excited!

I got a few more pieces of different foliage in greens and gold and also picked up some bells.

It turned out quite nice and really brightens up the room. The only thing is the wall is pretty high. I think if I had a larger mirror that I can hand on the wall to fill in the height it would have been perfect. But I’m on a budget :P

I think it looks great! Gold is always a great color to work with because it just adds so much pop to the simplest of things. I just finished my winter decorating yesterday…decorating tends to add a level of coziness to the home. And I know what you mean about wanting to fill a high wall but stay at your budget… just keep an eye out at the end of the season for amazing deals and of course don’t forget thrifting!!

Yes! I totally need to do more thrifting. Hopefully next holiday or even my next mantel I will have more time to think it through and add a thrifty touch to it. My mantel isn’t that deep either…so I find it limit what I can do :(

It looks beautiful! Our mantel has dusty picture frames on it and a folded map (not sure why). I like your ideas much better!

thanks Cheryl! Our mantel was pretty dusty too and my husband kept putting random junk up there. Wasn’t until I started this blog and for my son that I wanted to swap out the mantels each season. It’s good for my son and me too lol! Now to get a little basket for my husband to put that random stuff in and keep it off the mantel! :)
